09:49, 10 декабря 2012

Domodedovo Airport recently received Airbus A380, the biggest passenger jet in the world. The first regular flight of the new superliner is Moscow – Dubai – Moscow, organized by Emirates airlines. The flight will be available every day.

Richard Jewsbury, Senior Vice President of Emirates for Europe and Russian Federation has come to Domodedovo in order to take part in the press-conference. Executive Manager of Russian Airbus office, Sergey Nedbaylo, and Head of Domodedovo Airport, Igor Borisov, also attended the meeting.

“The Airbus A380 superliner has first come to Moscow in 2009, and it was Domodedovo that received that flight, - reminded Igor Borisov at the opening of the conference. – Now, three years later, Emirates is launching a regular flight of A380 to our airport. That indicates that Domodedovo is among the most modern hubs of the world”.

The liner is characterized by its astonishing size, so there are some extra requirements to airports that want to receive such jets. The maintenance depot of Domodedovo has all the latest technology to do so – taxiways, runways and all the necessary service equipment comply with the international standards. The airport purchased all the needed equipment to service the A380, including a two-level jet bridge, which connects to three doors at the same time – one on level two, and two doors on the first level. It’s the only two-level jet bridge in Russia at the moment.

The new Airbus A380 flight from Moscow to Dubai offers unprecedented level of comfort. The jet is equipped with the state of the art entertainment system, wireless internet, chill-out zone with a bar and even a spa. The size of the superliner is comparable to an 8-story building. The number of Emirates’ clients in Domodedovo rose to 775 per day after this new flight was introduced.
