Brand new automated migration registration system launched at Sheremetyevo airport

A Russian Federal Migration Service’s experiment on the implementation of the automated system of real-time filling out and distribution of immigration cards and forwarding a foreign citizen’s personal information to the relevant authorities was launched at Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport’s Terminal D. This particular terminal has been picked because it is being passed by around five thousand foreign passengers every day. Such a great capacity will allow apprehending the new system’s uniqueness and learning its advantages by first-hand experience.

The project is carried out in accordance with the Russian Federation Government’s order dated March 11, 2010 “Implementation of experiment on automated processing and registration of immigration cards at all airports within Moscow airside”.

The new automated system of filling out and distribution of immigration cards in passport control booths will allow real-time forwarding of foreign citizens’ personal data to the immigration database. Besides, it will help to prevent mistakes caused by manual processing of immigration cards by FMS staff. Furthermore the foreigners won’t have fill out the immigration cards anymore, the data will be read automatically upon presentation of a traveler’s passport.

“This new system will shorten the processing time, we intend to reduce this time to three minutes” – said Director General of Terminal LLC Mr. Vladimir Bouriak.
