South Korea facilitates visa procedures for Russians

08:07, 20 января 2012

Starting from this January South Korea implements facilitated visa application regulations for transit passengers and those seeking long-term medical diagnostics and treatment in Korea – reports deita.ru, referring to Korea Tourism Organization (KTO).

Before this move, transit passengers wishing to stay in Korea for more than one day had to submit the full set of documents in order to obtain a standard visa. Now the procedure has been significantly simplified – apart from the application form and valid passport an applicant now needs only one document – an electronic plane ticket.

A medical multi-visa can still be obtained after submitting all required documents to South Korea consulate, but one can make use of newly facilitated procedure. To do that a tourist should get in touch with a Korean medical facility or an operator of medical tours, who have the right to issue an official visa support letter. The tourist bring that to the consulate along with his valid passport and gets a multi-visa right on the spot. As for now many of Korea’s leading hospitals and tour operators are going through accreditation formalities entitling them to issue such letters.

According to Director of KTO office in Vladivistok Mr. Pak Hyun Bon, the facilitation of visa application procedure will contribute to the growth of the tourist flow to South Korea.
