The flow of Russian tourists to Cambodia has doubled

The tourist flow from Russia to Cambodia has doubled in 2011 compared to 2010 and is counting up to 60 thousand people. The main donor-markets for the kingdom, which was visited by 3 million tourists last year, resulted to be Vietnam, South Korea and USA.

At the same time, according to the country’s Ministry of Tourism, in 2012 about 700 thousand Cambodians went abroad, mainly for medical purposes.

A meeting between the Chief Manager of International Cooperation of RosTourism Valery Korovkin and the Cambodian delegation took place within the framework of the ITM-2012 travel trade fair in Moscow. The meeting was headed by Mr. Tok Sokhom, the Director of International department of Cambodia’s Tourism Ministry. As reported by RIA Novosti, mutual cooperation issues were discussed during the meeting. Special attention was paid to the matter of training Russian-speaking guides as there are only 41 Russian-speaking guides for 60 thousand Russian tourists. The parties discussed the possibility of training Cambodian staff with the assistance of Russian experts.
