Tourist information center to be opened in Irkutsk

Regional tourist information center (TIC) will start operating in Irkutsk in the first quarter of 2013. The Head of the region's Agency for Tourism Marina Rozhkova said that the center will be operating on the basis of the Irkutsk State Linguistic University. Visitors will be able to get information on regional travel products, hotel services, cultural events, exhibitions and museums, festivals, concerts, transport infrastructure, food services.

 

According to Marina Rozhkova, the center’s aim is to create a positive image of Lower Angara Region for promoting region’s tourist brand, and to organize convenient information environment for both Russian and foreign tourists. TIC will present ultimate information on travel potential of the region in Russian, English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Chinese and Korean languages.

 

“In order to protect the rights of the consumers of travel and excursion services and to improve the quality of services, interpreters in tourism field will be certificated on the basis of regional TIC. Besides, a call-center where information for tourists will be available in different languages is in the planning stage, - explained Ms. Rozhkova to Regnum.

 

The principal of the Irkutsk State Linguistic University Grigory Voskoboynik noted that students will be able to do practical trainings on the basis of the center which will improve the quality of interpreters’ professional qualification.

 

It will be recalled that the Agency for Tourism on behalf of the Governor of the Irkutsk region Sergey Eroschenko works on region’s tourism development concept which requires a web portal. Technical specifications of the portal have already been developed.
