08:07, 21 марта 2011

In 2010 413 thousand Russians visited Czechia, that is 26.6% more than in 2009. The number of the arrivals done by the Russian tourists take the second place, while in 2009 they were ranked fifth. The head of Czech Tourism in Russia Monika Lingartova announced this data at the press-conference that was held in the frame of MITT-2011.

Present at the meeting the Ambassador of Czech Republic in Russia Petr Kolar confirmed that the tourists flow from Russia grew and mentioned: «We would like to remind the Russian tourists that our country consists not only Prague and Karlovy Vary, we have many other beautiful places».

Last year 6.3 mio tourists visited Czech Republic, which is 5% more than in 2009. International tourism profit amounted to 127.4 billion crowns (more than 5 billion €), that is almost 5 billion crowns more than in 2009.

According to Monika Lingartova the Russians positively differ from the tourists of other countries, as they are ready to spend more money and stay in the country for a longer period. «It's very typical for the Russians to stay longer in Czechia, especially on resorts. Quality medical treatment or wellness program is not possible within a short period of time, you need minimum 2 – 3 weeks for that», – said Monika Lingartova. Combined tours are also becoming popular with Russian tourists. For example thanks to the convenient location of Czech Republic in the center of Europe you can also visit Dresden while staying in Prague, or Vienna from Brno. And the new Czech airline Central Charter Airlines plans to operate flights to Moscow, St.Petersburg and Ekaterinburg from Brno.
