Russians spend 60% more than other Europeans in Rome
The average length of a holiday in Rome is 4 days, during which
foreign tourists spend around 800 Euro. The ones spending the most in the
capital of Italy are residents of Australia, South America and the United
States of America. The most popular places in Rome turned out to be the
Coliseum and the Trevi Fountain.
Data was collected
from a recent survey conducted by the European portal of labour mobility Eures
together with the Tourism Development Organisation in the region Latsio EBTL. Tourists expenses depend on the country they
are from: resident of the EU are ready to spend around 550 Euro, Russians and
Norwegians – 820 Euro, residents of Asia – 850 Euro. Americans spend more than
1000 Euro during their holiday in Rome, natives of South America – 1330 Euro,
and Australians -1600 Euro, more than anyone.
An overwhelming
majority of those who participated in the survey said that they had come to
Rome to enjoy its history and culture, 5% - to study (amongst the younger group
– those up to the age of 18, this indicator grows to 50%). 2% come to Rome on business, and 0.8% for
family or religious reasons.
The bulk of their
expenses goes towards renting a room in a hotel or in a private apartment (38%
and 26% respectively). They
also spend money on tickets to museums and galleries (16%), shopping (11%)
entertainment and activities (7%), reports Euromag with reference to Paesesera.
