The biggest indoor aqua park in the Central Federal District, with a surface area of 6.5 thousand square meters will open in the beginning of October. The new Water Amusement Park will become a part of a bigger complex The Oka Pearl. A hotel for up to 200 people will be built here, as well as 100 guest houses, a sports complex for children and adults, and a beach out on the open water. This was all announced to RATA-News at the tourism exhibition Leisure 2012 by the chairperson of the Tourism and Culture committee of the Ryazan Area Elena Tsareva.

According to her words, there are also plans for the reconstruction of the Museum-Reserve of the Russian poet Sergei Esenin, in his native village Konstantinovo. At the entrance to the Reserve a recreational area will be built with a restaurant, a small hotel and a souvenir shop. The historical part of the village will remain untouched and protected, preserving all of the features of the time when the Russian poet lived here. The local administration has plans to launch a ferryboat through Oka, which should connect Konstantinovo with the Mesherskaya lowland, famous for its stunning beauty. From here, tourists will be able to quickly and easily access other historical centres of the Ryazan Area – Solotchi and Spas-Klepikov. At the moment the search is still on for a strategic investor. Aside from this, another major tourist site is planned to be opened by 2014 – the “Seven Foot” Yacht Club. Besides the zone for the storage and maintenance of the sailboats, a hotel and wellness centre will be built, as well as a restaurant, fully equipped tennis courts and a helipad.

According to the Ryazan Area Culture and Tourism Committee’s data, a total of 800 000 tourists visit the “Birch Territory” annually. However, the majority of the tourist flow is still made up of day trips and excursions. To attract a greater number of guests and to increase their length of stay, a significant amount of hotels of various comfort levels have been built over the past couple of years. For example, the hotel complex “V nekotorom Tsarstve”. Aside from the guest houses, styled like Knight’s chambers and a Russian Sauna, there is a mini zoo, which houses a sheep, rabbits, wild deer and squirrels. According to Ms Tsareva’s words, the complex is especially popular with foreign tourists, which make up 70% of the total number of visitors. Already by next summer, a “Master’s Village” will open in the hotel complex, where traditional folk handicrafts will be displayed. Guests of the village will also be able to take part in master-classes, and keep the souvenir they made themselves for memory of their stay.

All excursions around the Ryazan Area can be carried out in 3 languages – English, German, and French. At the same time, both budget (from 4000 roubles p.p.) and business class (around 5000 roubles p.p.) is available to clients. Aside from this, the birthplace of healing water and acidic peat mud is located within the region, which allows visitors to combine cultural – educational tourism with spa healing procedures. A visit can also be timed to coincide with one of the most spectacular of festivals – “Secrets of Medieval Blacksmiths”, the historical “Battle of the Vozha”, dedicated to the re-enactment of the events of the Tatar-Mongol domination, and also the festival of ballooning “Nebo Rossii”, which is held in the region in the beginning of August.
