53 new tourist routes
have appeared in 17 counties of the Perm
region since the beginning of 2012. The city of Perm is ceasing to be the only place of
interest for tourists – other parts of the region have also managed to offer
unique experiences to visitors. They also try to cover all the possible types
of leisure tourists might prefer. For instance, there are hiking tours called
Legends of the Old Mines and The Journey to the Stone Idol in the
Alexandrovskiy county. These tours allows you to see the Luniev coal mines, the
Chikman diamond fields, the Pikhtov marble deposits and the landscape monument
of mount Balaban, where the spirit of the Golden Baba lives, according to the
legend.
For those who enjoy
immersing in local culture there’s an ethno tour called the Tatar Izba, during
which you can actually live in the Barabashka village, take part in traditional
celebrations like Nauruz, Soran Sugu, Sabantuy, Tastymal Bayram, Kaz Omese and
visit the local museum. There’s a guest house on the territory of the village,
where you can stay for a couple of days to really get a good feel of that
country life.
Cherdynsky and Usolsky
counties can offer some water fun to their tourists. You can go rafting on the Kama river, visiting Cherdyn, Pyanteg and Kerch-Pesockny
along the way. In the Gornozavodsky county you can ho hiking in the mountains
and visit some caves. There’s also a place for historical and culture tourism
in the Perm
region, which gives tourists a chance to learn something new. There are tours
related to religion like the Ilyinsky Orthodox tour as well as excursions to
historical places – manors of noble families like Shuvalovs, Stroganovs and
Abamelek-Lazarevs.
Tourists who love
mystical journeys are also in for a treat. First of all, there’s the famous
M-triangle, also known as the Molebskaya anomalous zone in Kishertsky county.

there are also tourist routes like The Ancient City of Chud, Following in
chieftain Sokol’s Footsteps, Visiting Prosha in Solikamskaya county, Yermak’s
Legacy in Usolsky county and also the Ancient Towns
of Great Perm in Cherdynskaya county. Taking one of those, you will have a
chance to immerse yourself in ancient Russian history and make legends come
alive.
According to official data,
the tourist flow in the second quarter of 2012 amounted to 206 thousand
visitors, which is 1.7 times more, compared to the beginning of the year. Of
course the high season is one of the reasons the numbers increased, but
representatives of the Tourist Information Center
in Perm also
praise the new routes and diverse offers that the region has recently created.
