Solovki impressed American tourists
The IslandSky cruise liner has called at Solovki. It carried 85 foreign tourists, mostly
from the U.S. The sightseeing itinerary put together by the Zehgram Company was
quite busy. On the Solovki, the tourists visited the Monastery, the Bolshoi
Zayatsky island, Anzer, saw the exhibition dedicated to the history of the
Solovki concentration camp and prison, made a boat trip along local channels
and lakes.
After
departing from the island, the liner continued its voyage around the White and
the Barents seas calling at various northern towns and villages along the way.
For most of them, the Island Sky was the first cruise ship ever to cast anchor
in local waters.
Despite the
abundance of positive impressions, the foreign tourists confessed that the
highlight of the cruise was the visit to Solovki. At the end of the journey,
they collected over €1000 worth of donations for the development of the Solovki
Reserve Museum.
