Israel wants Russian tourists back

08:07, 1 апреля 2015

Hotels in Israel areready to offer special rates for Russian tourists - states Israeli Tourism Ministry spokesperson:

"We are now working on implementation of discounted hotel rates for Russian tourists. The country's hotels are interested in keeping the flow of tourists from Russia and willing to support the initiative preliminary scheduled to start around May holidays. Some hotels already offer 10% discount to their guests from Russia."

Over the period from November 2014 to March 1, 2015, the Russian tourist flow to Israel has lost 25%. In 2014, the Russians were second in terms of tourist arrivals - a mere 1% behind the Americans. Israeli Tourist Authorities believe that the period of decline is over as the Russian resume their interest to Israel. Many visitors are expected for Easter and May 9 holidays.

The Ministry has also announced its intention to subsidize Russian airlines operating charter flights to Eilat. The new incentive program is targeted at air carriers, tour operators or other companies with own or chartered aircraft. If they operate international flights to Ovda airport in Eilat area from October 6,2015 to April 22, 2016, the Ministry will reimburse the carrier €45 per passenger. Total compensation budget for a single company may reach €1 million. A minimum of 16 flights within the said period is required to participate.
