In Januaryand February 2015, Switzerland
has lost 30% of the inflow of Russian tourists when compared to the same period last year. Things are a bit better in March as this is a low-season
period usually favored by tourists with lower budget. Some of them might have
just postponed their planned peak-season winter trips until March.
In 2014% Switzerland
welcomed just 8% less Russian tourists than a year ago - the total of 195
thousand arrivals and 533 thousand overnights. Russia is one of the top 10 key
tourist markets for the Confederation. Not only do the Russians help keep Swiss
ski resorts afloat, they also spend willingly on spa treatment, restaurants,
and shopping.
Switzerland
Tourism is going to continue carrying out all promotional activities
planned: Summer and Winter advertising
campaigns, support program for tour operators. B2c promotion will be given
special attention as around 60% of Russian tourists book their trip to Switzerland online.
