For the first three month of the year, Vietnam was
visited by 56 thousand Russian tourists. It’s 45% more than for the same period
last year, announced the country's travel authorities. Russian tour operators
agree with the conclusions made by Vietnamese side and affirm that the effect
of delayed demand has worked out; it was connected with last years’ tragic
events in Japan.
February has become the peak month for Vietnam. During
this period 92% more Russians came here compared to the previous year – 20 thousand
people, in March – 27% more (17 thousand). With these results our compatriots
gain tenth place in the overall tourist flow to Vietnam. The leaders are Chinese,
South Korean, Japanese, Americans and Taiwanese. All in all from February to
March Vietnam
was visited by 1.1 million tourists. Comparing with the last year, the growth is
24%.
“In 2011, because of the tsunami in
Japan and the following breakdown at Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant, almost the
whole South-East Asia faced tourist flow slump, and Vietnam was not an
exception”, - reminded the Deputy Tourism Director of Vand International Tour,
Eugenia Khokhlova. According to the expert, those people who have postponed
their trip last year, went to Vietnam
this year. The number of guests has also grown naturally – local resorts become
more and more popular every year. “I think the growth will continue for several
years more. Vietnam
destination is yet considered to be new and there is still much to develop”, -
notes Mrs. Khokhlova.
At Vendi Tour Group the demand for Vietnam for the
last few months is called “crazy”. “The secret might be in rather low cost of
tour packages comparing to Thailand”,
- supposed the leading specialist of the South-East Asia,
Andrey Nosov. A week in a good 4-star hotel costs from $1.5 thousand per
person. During winter period the Russians prefer to relax at Phan Thiet resort, and at Nha
Trang – in summer. As it’s noted in the company, there are a lot of requests
for Phu Quoc Island.
For this resort demand exceeds the supply.
It should be recalled that not long ago
Lanta-tour Voyage was one of the first-rate players on Vietnam
destination. After it quitted, experts don’t see any serious moves on this
market. “The company seriously lost its ground on Vietnam, that’s why after its
bankrupt the redistribution of released amounts was rather calm”, - explained
Mr. Nosov. Vand International Tour agrees with the opinion of the colleague.
