Velikiy Ustyug as a popular winter destination.

Velikiy Ustyug that is marketed as a homeland of Ded Moroz (Russian Santa Klaus) from 1999 is getting more and more popular with tourists. Almost 20 thousand guests visited the House of Winter Magician during the first five days of 2011. The most active day was January 4, when Ded Moroz received 6000 guests in his residence.

Before this project started the town was visited by around 2000 tourists a year. The results of 2010 are not finalized yet, but according to the preliminary data the total number of guests would reach 220000, which is 7% more than in 2009. During the tenth anniversary year of the project there were 205 thousand tourists here.
