Russia and Peru abolished visas

08:07, 24 июня 2011

On June 21st the visa waiver agreement between Russia and Peru came into force. It was signed in last November at the APEC Forum in Japan. From now on the Russians can travel to Peru for up to 90 days with no visa, and the Peruvians can come to Russia under the same conditions. However Peru didn’t demand a visa from the Russians even though an official agreement hadn’t been signed by both countries.

Peru is an individual sightseeing destination particularly famous for its Machu Picchu Inca site. It is not featured in the list of countries that welcome statistically significant amount of Russian tourists. According to Peru’s Consulate in Russia, the country is visited by not more than 2 thousand tourists from Russia every year. Generally lack of direct flights holds back the tourist flow, so the lion’s share of an itinerary’s price is usually an airfare.
