Demand for EasyJet flights grows exponentially

13:13, 25 марта 2013

Kayak.ru, flights and hotels online booking system, records feverish demand for EasyJet flights from Moscow to the UK. The growth of interest may be described as exponential.

British low-cost air carrier EasyJet won a tender for passenger flights between London and Moscow after the resignation of BMI airline in 2012. The sales started in January 2013; and on March 18, the airline commenced its daily services; and from April 15, 2013, the carrier intends to offer two daily flights from Moscow Domodedovo to London Gatwick. The price starts at 2193 roubles (€55) for a one-way flight. Besides that, EasyJet will be operating four weekly services between Russian capital and Manchester.

During the last six months, the number of Russians wishing to fly with the British low-coster has been growing from month to month. But over the last three months, the demand has gone totally crazy; the number of search requests in every next month exceeds that of the previous month by as much as 500%.

According to Kayak's analysts, some 300 of their visitors were checking EasyJet's offers; in December, there were already 1.5 thousand of them; and by this February their numbers reached no less than 7.9 thousand.

"The experts don't see this rapid growth as something seasonal, as the number of requests for EasyJet has grown 4.5 times among the overall number of queries." – comments the managing director of Kayak for Russia and CIS, Mr. Andrey Verbitsky.
