Over 3 million Russians visited Turkey

During the first 9 months of 2011 the overall tourist flow to Turkey amounted to 25.6 million people, which is 10.76% more than last year.

Turkey’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism claims that quantity-wise Russian tourists are in the TOP-3 with tourists from Germany and Great Britain, if we look at the January-September period. The country welcomed 3.7 million Germans, 3.2 million Russians and 2.2 million Brits. Mostly the guests were staying in Antalya – 35.2%, Istanbul – 23.7% and Mugla – 10.8%.

During the same period almost 454 thousand tourists from Azerbaijan came to Turkey. That’s a 25.81% growth compared to last year’s figures, claims Turkey’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The Ministry is expecting the tourist flow to increase in the last months of the year and achieve a total of 30 million tourists per year.
