Singapore welcomed over 50 thousand Russians this year
In thefirst half of this year, Singapore has been visited by 52.1 thousand Russian
tourists – 21.5% more compared to the same period last year. In 2013, the
country saw a sustainable upturn, too – it welcomed 82.1 thousand Russians, 19%
growth year-on-year. The most impressive of all was the month of January, when
almost 15.8 thousand Russians spent their vacation in Singapore.
Despite
these impressive figures, Regional Director of the Singapore Tourism Council in
Russia and Eastern Europe. Mr. Raymond Lim, believes that it would be quite
hard to perform this good during the year’s second half. “We hope for a 12%
growth by the end of this year. It’s not as good a result compared to the previous
year, but we’ll take it as a successful performance given the unstable economic
situation. We do our best to support Russian travel industry players in their
promotional efforts. By doing so we’ll be able move Russia on the 5th
place among European countries sending tourists to Singapore” – he said.
In 2013, Singapore welcomed the total of 15.6 million overseas visitors – 7.4% year-on-year growth.
