Serbians and Russians make up half of thу tourist flow to Montenegro
Montenegro has recorded 455,185 tourist arrivals, which is around 5.3% more compared to the previous year’s figures. As per Montenegro Statistics Department, the number of overnights made by foreign tourists in the country has increased by 12.2% compared to August 2010 and reached almost 3,6 million people. However, 89% of the entire volume fell on foreign visitors and only 11% - on local citizens.
In January-August 2011 Montenegro welcomed a total of 1,102,639 tourists, who spent 7,375,387 overnights in the country; this is 9.5% more compared to the same period of the previous year. Domestiс tourists started to spend less time in their country, their number fell by 2.4%, foreign visitors on the other hand have increased their numbers by 11.1%. Almost a half of the whole foreign tourist flow to Montenegro was coming from Serbia (27.9%) and Russia (20.3%). They are leaving far behind the visitors from Bosnia and Herzegovina (7.6%), Kosovo (3.4%), Ukraine (3.1%), Albania (2.3%) and Poland (2.1%).
