The number of Russian tourists choosing Spain's Malaga for their vacation has grown 30% to 8.5 thousand. They spent 350 thousand overnights at Costa-del-Sol last year. Malaga receives a total of 9 million foreign tourists every year. A half of them are Spanish, followed by holidaymakers from the UK and Germany. The Russians are only 25th in this rating - 2% of the total tourist flow. This was brought to light by the Tourism Counsellor of the Spanish embassy in Moscow, Mr. Felix de Pas, during a meeting held at the Moscow City Committee for Tourism and Hotel Industry. According to the diplomat's forecasts, the Russian tourist flow to Malaga is to add another 30% this year. His positive expectations are based on this year's figures: the number of Russians visiting Andalucia has already gone 22% up. They spent 21,541 nights in the region's hotels (+38.7 to the previous year's results). For reference, the flow of tourists from Ukraine increased by slightly less than 8% at the same time.
The Deputy Chairman of the Moscow Tourism Committee, Mrs. Irina Roudenko, shared with the guests official statistical breakdown on Spanish tourists' arrivals to Moscow; 54 thousand of them came to the city in 2012 - 5% more compared to the previous year. Spain has long been one of the most active suppliers of visitors to the Russian capital. In the first quarter of this year, Moscow welcomed 9.5 thousand Spanish citizens.
