During the Year of
Russia, the Moscow Committee for Tourism and Hotel Industry together with the
Beijing Tourism Development Committee, Beijing People’s Congress International
affairs office, Beijing Overseas Friendship community and the Beijing People’s
Association of International Exchange have organized a trip to China’s capital for 50 Moscow families. A total of about 200 people
were sent to Beijing.
Preference was given to large families. Both Russian and Chinese judges took
part in determining who will go on this trip.
The year of Russian
tourism has started on March 23
in China.
Moscow Tourism Committee representatives are sure that the Russian-Chinese
cooperating in the tourist market is going very well. China is the second largest supplier of tourists
for Russia (after Germany).
According to Committee’s data, there were more than 800 thousand visitors from China in 2011,
which is 14% more than in 2010. Russia,
in its turn, is a #3 source of tourists for the Chinese market. Last year more
than 2.5 million Russians came to PRC, which is 7% more than in 2010. The years
of tourism promotions should increase the tourist flow in both directions. The
first half of 2012 alone shows a 43% growth of the tourist flow from China to Moscow,
if compared to the same period of 2011.
Russian families will
start discovering China
on September 28, and will return home on October 4. Guests from Moscow will see the most important sights of Beijing: the Temple
of Haven, the Baigongfang
museum, The Great Wall and also dirstricts like Dunchen, Sicehn, Khaidian and
Chaoian.
According to Igor
Kozlov, Head of Tourism Department of Moscomtourism, the time of the trip was
not chosen by random. Time from October 1 to October 7 is called the Golden
Week. It’s a period when the whole country is celebrating the Day of China. It
is a national holiday, so locals have some days off from work, giving Russian
guests a good chance to communicate with receiving families, learn a lot of new
information and visit many interesting places.
