Emirates begins flights to St. Petersburg

08:07, 31 октября 2011

The first flight by the Emirates airline from Dubai landed in Pulkovo-2 airport on Tuesday, opening regular flights to St. Petersburg from Dubai, where the airline is based. A delegation out of the company's senior employees was on board, including the vice-president of world-wide passenger sales, Thierry Antioni, and vice-president of the Europe and Russian Federation department, Salem Obaidallah. The flight from St. Petersburg back to Dubai took off fully loaded.

The start of the flights by Emirates, which is among the world’s leading airlines, to St. Petersburg opens new possibilities to travel to Dubai in comfort or use its vast network of international routes not only for residents of St. Petersburg but also of such North-Western Russian cities like Kaliningrad, Murmansk and Arkhangelsk. Thanks to codeshare agreements, specifically with Rossiya airline, the residents of these cities can buy direct flight tickets to Dubai or any other third destination from its airports and travel in comfort on board of Emirates' planes.

Starting from October the residents of Russia's Far East have also received new opportunities to travel to Dubai. Because of an airline interline agreement with S7 (former Sibir) airline and special airfares provided by Emirates, tourists from Vladivostok, Khabarovsk and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk can travel to Dubai via Beijing while paying almost the same money as passengers traveling from Moscow or St. Petersburg.
