Minister of tourism of Egypt arrived to convince MFA of Russia
The Minister of tourism of Egypt Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour will meet with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Alexander Saltanov. The possibility of cancellation of MFA recommendations to avoid trips to Egypt for Russians will be discussed at this meeting.
According to the Minister only three countries, Russia, USA and Australia still did not cancell the recommendation to refrain from visiting Egypt. «I hope that my meetings with the representatives of Russian authorities will result in abrogation of those recommendations. I guarantee that the situation in our country is absolutely safe and secure. Besides that the Russian tourists want to go to Egypt themselves so restart of the programs is beneficial for both sides».
Mr. Abdel Nour explained that the tourists flow in Egypt returned to normal level. On March 13 Hurgada received 58 charter fights with around 8 thousand tourists on board, which is a usual number for March. Cruise ships started to arrive to Port Safaga on the Red Sea.
«Despite all these results we will put in even more efforts in order to convince global society that the situation in our country is safe, - the minister declared. – Besides that we are planning to work directly with nine regions of Russia via local medias to reach our Russian consumers and assure them that we are ready to welcome tourists». The Minister confirmed that after restart of charter programs Egypt is planning to support Russian touroperators: «We plan to do everything necessary for our partners to be able to compensate their losses for the past period».
One of the tasks of the Ministry of tourism is quality of the product and solving the problems that happened with tourists before. Mr. Abdel Nour expects that despite everything the number of Russian tourists in Egypt in 2011 won't be fewer than in 2010.
